How Smoking Can Make You Sick

Over 50,000 tests have proved that cigarette smoking causes disease. That's no surprise when you look at what happens inside your body each time you puff on a cigarette.
When you take smoke into your lungs, oxygen--the body's energy source--is blocked off. So, your lungs have to work harder to get the oxygen they need. This puts a tremendous strain on your heart. That's why smoking can cause shortness of breath and heart disease.
Cigarettes also contain two very dangerous substances--tar and nicotine. Tar--the same thick and oily goop used to cover roads--gets inside your body and coats healthy tissues. It also stains your teeth and hands yellow. Deposits of tar can cause cancerous growths. Nicotine is a poisonous and addictive drug. When you smoke, it reaches your brain two times faster than if your shot heroin into your veins. Nicotine makes you dizzy and is the stuff that gets you hooked on smoking.
Cigarette smoking can also be dangerous to those who don't smoke. Smoke from a burning cigarette pollutes the air with many poisons--carbon monoxide, benzene, ammonia, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, and hydrogen cyanide. Any one of these substances can be harmful. Carbon monoxide can raise blood pressure and overwork the lungs and heart. Hydrogen cyanide and nitrogen dioxide are irritating gasses that can cause a sore throat, watery eyes, and breathing difficulties. Formaldehyde and benzene are known to cause cancer.

But the best thing to do is buy electronic cigarettes. If you're not sure about which ones to buy, check out the E-Cigarette Festival. They compare electronic cigarettes and even have a great smokeless image coupon that you can use to save 10% off Smokeless Image products.
